The Royal Train

The Royal Train is about Romania with all its cracks and divisions and the nature and mechanisms of a monarchy.The centrepiece of the documentary is the one day train journey on board of a 1920’s luxury train that the Romanian crown prince couple undertake on Romania’s national holiday, the First of December, along a route that changes from year to year. At every Train station they are given a very warm reception. What is going on in modern day Romania?2016 is a special year for 150 years of the monarchy are to be celebrated – an exclusive and singular occasion for pompous self-representation that also allows us an exclusive insight into the complex machinery which is being skilfully used by the royal Family to achieve their long-term goal step by step: the reintroduction of the monarchy.
