In 1944/45, during the last year of WW II, National Socialism Comes into a closed Tyrolean valley community. People have to deal with the intruders. They try to survive. Even after the end of the war. They still you use the dangerous smuggling routes to South Tyrol. Natural disasters such as breaking glaciers, avalanches and fatal accidents at work do not make life easier. For Rosa, the main character, this time brings a complete new beginning to her life planning. Until then, Rosa had spent a peaceful and carefree life as a shepherdess on the mountain pasture. But the spirits of the valley seem to have turned against her. After the year nothing is as it was.
